Space Exploration: Are We in a Now or Never Situation?

Space exploration usually elicits groans from people because they’ve been conditioned to believe that there is no life beyond planet Earth. Even if it’s suitable for life right now, will that really be the case a decade or so from now? The Astro Advocate doesn’t think so, and nor should you.

Today’s space advocacy article will explain why space exploration is the need of this very hour.

Space Exploration Can Save Human Life

The human body may not be suitable for space travel, but space travel may one day save life here on Earth. The GPS, weather predictions, UV filters, and solar panels are space technology. You wouldn’t have the former had you not visited and explored the latter.

Moreover, the International Space Stationlocated 248 miles over our collective heads, is busy researching human health on Earth and outer space. They’ve explored and made several important discoveries related to human aging, trauma, disease, and the ecosystem in the microgravity environment. Space exploration has done more for human life than you know, and it’s only getting started.

Space Colonization May Save Life on the Planet

The world has come far from the days when not saving your data meant it was flung into a virtual void, never to be retrieved again. In simple words, you have a backup for everything, but why do you not have a backup for the one thing that matters: planet Earth?

The world, as if we know it, is literally a ticking time bomb. Humans have invented devices that could be their ultimate demise. A single nuclear war is all it would take to wipe out the human race and make this planet unsuitable for life.

All that to say, we need a backup plan-et!

Humans need to support space missions and ramp up efforts to colonize Mars. That is the only way they can survive the next natural or manmade catastrophe.

Space Mining Doesn’t Have Consequences

Mining takes an environmental toll on the planet. You cannot mine for minerals without:

· Polluting the air and water.

· Ruining animal habitats.

· Harming wildlife

· Damaging natural landscapes.

That’s a high cost to pay for raw materials that you can just as easily get from outer space. The galaxy has an unlimited number of asteroids and other rocky bodies, which are just as valuable as the materials on this planet. Mining them won’t hurt the environment down here, and it will have a much lower risk of human exploitation.
